Removal of Pb2+ from industrial wastewater using activated carbon from Persea americana seed

نویسندگان

چکیده

Activated carbon is a material that has various environmental applications, such as the adsorption of metallic lead ions (Pb2+). It can be obtained from different plant species. In this research, seed Persea americana (Avocado- HASS variety) was local markets in city Cartagena to used removal Pb2+ wastewater fishing industry. To obtain activated carbon, carbonized Terrigeno-brand clay oven, Model DB 1200. Orthophosphoric acid at 21% w/v an activating agent. The residual water characterized following APHA specifications. turbidity determined by nephelometry Turbiquant 300 IR turbidimeter. concentration atomic absorption spectroscopy Thermo Scientific iCE 3300 equipment. chemical surface performed Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). carbons were morphologically using scanning electron microscope SEM (Jeol 5910LV), visualized 15kV. A yield 20.38% mass coal achieved. pores are irregular size, ranging 16.2 55.98 μm. 65% Pb2+, (57.6%), color (57%), total solids (50.2%), well BOD (53.12%) and COD (36%) removed, finding statistically significant differences values 95% level significance. (HASS avocado) serve adsorbent (activated carbon) wastewater.

Removal of Hexavalent Chromium from Aqueous Solution Using Activated Carbon Derived from Palmyra Palm Fruit Seed

In this study, removal of chromium(VI) from aqueous solutions by Palmyra palm fruit seed carbon (PPFSC) and commercial activated carbon (CAC) was investigated. The metal adsorption capacity has been studied as a function of contact time, pH and carbon dosage. The adsorption yields increased with the increasing of adsorbent dosage and contact time, and subsequently reached the equilibrium. The s...
